Six Minutes to Circle began as a blog about my life. Now it is a blog about my life and a place to showcase my creative endeavors.
The Title:
Where did I come up with the name Six Minutes to Circle? For those of you who commute in Chicago you probably already know.
If you have a blog yourself you know that all the good names are taken, so when I started this blog I was at a loss. Then one day I was driving and the traffic sign above the Kennedy Expressway read “6 Minutes to Circle” and I thought, that’s it. For those of you who don’t live in Chicagoland the signs above the freeways give the time to a certain destination. “Circle” in this instance refers to the circle interchange where all of the major freeways come together in downtown.
Here is the very unsafe picture I took while driving (don't worry I was practically stopped):

Also, I like the idea of being just outside (or six minutes to…) a metaphorical circle. We are never fully realized as human beings; complete self-actualization is always just out of reach. I think life is about getting as close to it as possible without ever feeling finished.
My Mission Statement:
To remind myself everyday that there is only one life and take advantage of every moment given to me. To live in unselfish ways. To express my gratitude to those who show kindness to me and my family. To remember my countless blessings and try not to complain. To not blame myself for my mistakes, but find the lessons instead. To say yes more often than no. To trust in myself and my dreams. To love fully and unconditionally and find joy in the smallest of things.
"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." - Howard Thurman
